Colegio Daos considers sport to be a healthy way to develop both physically and psychologically.
Physical education has a major role to play in the development of young people. It is an integral part of the total education of any child and is clearly linked to other creative learning experiences an skill acquisitions.
Participating in sport builds self esteem, helps to develop team spirit, and problem-solving skills in a team setting.
The healthy practice of sport builds and strengthens their personalities, cultivates their minds and bodies, encouraging them to reach our and explore new horizons, giving them a better knowledge of themselves. It also plays an important role in the prevention of health disease, developing healthy habits that will continue throughout their lives.
It is a good emotional outlet and a way of channelling energy.
Used systematically as a reinforcement of the teaching that is given in the classroom.
The result of this being, that children gain knowledge quickly, and confidently.
In the first an second cycle of infants we include psychomotoricity (fine-motor coordination skills/functions). Depending or according to the stage or neurological development. A fundamental issue in the early stages of development.
As well as the normal sports classes set out in the course syllabus, the children also have sessions of specific sports such as, basketball and football. With introductory classes of tennis, golf and hockey.
Our next project at Colegio DAOS is to expand our sports facilities with the building of a sports centre including a 25 meter indoor swimming pool.
